Practicing Initial Steps in the Consultation Process
Activity 1: Use of Consultation Planning Form • Select ONE Early Childhood Partner Teacher with whom you are working in providing itinerant services. Please plan to complete a MINIMUM of 2 planning forms (FORM A) before the Dec. 7 session. Activity 2: MEPI analysis: • Review guidelines for MEPI evaluation of objectives and determination of mode and intensity of intervention/instruction. Share these with an ECE partner teacher and discuss. • Review examples of IEP objectives (see attached file) with ECE partner teacher. Select 4 IEP objectives from a child’s IEP in the classroom you visit. Using the appropriate, BLANK planning form (FORM B), discuss these objectives with respect to the MEPI model and determine which modes and levels of instructional intensity should support the child’s attainment of EACH of these 4 IEP objectives. Please complete the planning form and be prepared to discuss in Dec. 7 session. Activity 3: Embedding Learning Opportunities: • Review the same 4 IEP objectives and discuss how these objectives could be embedded in daily routines or activities. Use the BLANK planning form (FORM C) to determine when and where, in the classroom or early learning environment, these 4 IEP objectives could be addressed. Please complete the planning form and be prepared to discuss in Dec. 7 session. Activity 4: Use of Curriculum Planning Matrix
Review the same 4 IEP objectives and use the sample MATRIX form to guide a discussion of when and where EACH of these 4 IEP objectives. discuss how these objectives could be embedded in daily routines or activities.
